First Private Investment in Boathouse District Opens This Week

Bar K — a dog park with restaurant and bar — opens its third location and first in Oklahoma in the Boathouse District, making it the first private investment to open in the district.

Bar K, a two-and-a-half-acre dog park with 10,000-square feet of indoor play space, full bar, restaurant and event space, opens in the boathouse district Feb. 8, marking the first private investment in the district.

The business now has three locations with the first in Kansas City, Missouri, which opened in 2018.

“We’ve had more than a million people come through our doors at our two locations, and probably around 600,000 dogs,” said Dave Hensley, co-founder and partner.  “We’ve seen a lot of dogs and a lot of people.”

Rose Rock Development Partners and Pivot Project developed the project, built by Miller-Tippens Construction. Oklahoma artists created murals located on the exterior of the building.

“We’re thrilled that the success of Bar K has brought us to Oklahoma City — a thriving, growing, future-focused community,” said Leib Dodell, Bar K co-founder and partner. “We can’t wait to share the Bar K experience with all the people and pups of OKC.”
