The wealth strategies firm acquired FD, Thompson & Co., expanding its OKC presence.
Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies announced this month the acquisition of Oklahoma City-based tax, accounting and wealth management firm FD, Thompson & Co., which will expand its presence in Oklahoma City and enhance the delivery of tax-smart financial services to clients.
“The FD, Thompson team are a tremendous asset to our firm thanks to their knowledge, experience and understanding of client needs,” said Kyle Brownlee, chief executive officer and senior wealth advisor of Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies. “This acquisition supports our ultimate goal: to serve more individuals and families in the Oklahoma City metro area who need wise financial advice, so they can leave meaningful legacies for the people and communities they love.”
Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies bridges the gap between tax advice and wealth management, offering a comprehensive approach to financial management. Through this acquisition, Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies will expand its regional presence, which includes seven offices across Oklahoma, and strengthen in-house tax and accounting services with the addition of FD, Thompson members David Thompson, CPA and Steve Rothaus, CPA and staff.
FD, Thompson was founded in 1946, and after several successful decades in the industry, Thompson and Rothaus assumed leadership of the firm. Over the years, FD, Thompson acquired practices to advance its ‘tax-aware’ solutions for clients and expand its knowledgeable, professional staff. In 2011, FD, Thompson was tapped to serve clients of Owen & Thorp — including several of the founding Sonic Industries franchisees — upon the retirements of Bill Owen and Arthur Thorp.
“It is important to us that our clients are continuously guided by knowledgeable CPAs, tax professionals and wealth advisors,” said Thompson, certified public accountant and member for FD, Thompson. “When thinking about the future of our firm, Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies was the perfect fit to continue offering the valuable support clients need to make financial decisions for their unique situations.”
“Our partnership with Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies will enable the FD, Thompson team to develop in ways that serve our clients best, including more robust financial planning and wealth management advice,” said Rothaus, certified public accountant and member for FD, Thompson. “Wymer Brownlee’s knowledge in this area paired with our sophisticated tax processes make the acquisition a win-win for our clients and our employees.”
Rothaus and FD, Thompson employees will join the Wymer Brownlee Wealth Strategies team in its Oklahoma City office at Portland and Memorial. Rothaus will serve as a tax director for Wymer Brownlee, directing all tax compliance and planning projects with the assistance of the firm’s Oklahoma City tax team. Thompson will remain involved throughout the business transition and work with clients in an ongoing consulting role.
